  • JILA Fellow Adjoint and 探花视频 Professor Jeff Linksy
JILA Fellow Adjoint and the University of Colorado Boulder professor Dr. Jeffrey Linksy has been selected as a Fellow for the American Astronomical Society (AAS). Linksy was cited for "decades听of innovative studies听of the heliosphere and the local interstellar听medium; for his models of stellar chromospheres, for productive听observing programs on multiple satellites and for establishing the deuterium-to-hydrogen ratio听in the local disk, among other scientific contributions, and for his decades of service to the astronomical community.鈥 At JILA, Linksy's research involves the analysis of high-resolution stellar spectra, primarily in the ultraviolet, to measure the physical properties of stars, the atmospheres of exoplanets, gas in the local interstellar medium, and the abundance of deuterium in the Galaxy. Congratulations Dr. Linksy!
  • Artist’s concept of the Super-Earth planet Gliese 832 c.
Astrophysicist Jeff Linsky and his colleagues recently created a sophisticated mathematical model of the outer atmosphere of the small M-dwarf star called GJ832. The new model fits well with spectral observations of the star made with the Hubble Space Telescope (HST). This accomplishment bodes well for two reasons: First, it provides a tool for better understanding M-dwarf stars鈥撯搕he most common type of star in our galaxy.
