The mechanical engineering communication and external relations team is seeking research story ideas that may be a good fit for EurekAlert and broader media pitching.

If your lab has recently published a research paper, or is scheduled to in the near future, please reach out to Alexander Servantez or with a summary of the work and some times throughout the week you are available.

Anastasia Schauer, an assistant professor in mechanical engineering at the University of Texas at Austin, will be hosting a seminar on Tuesday, October 21 from 10 to 11 a.m. in DLC 1B70. Her work involves the study of generative AI tools to investigate cognitive biases associated with gender in engineering, the design of maker space experiences and other interdisciplinary topics.

All ME students, faculty and staff are encouraged to attend.

The Outstanding MS Mechanical Engineering Student Award is back for its third semester! This initiative, funded by the graduate program, aims to recognize the exceptional contributions of our MS mechanical engineering students in their academic and research endeavors.

Nominees must be students who are actively enrolled in graduate-level courses that demonstrate excellence in a way that elevates their own learning and that of others. Award recipient(s) will receive a monetary award to their student account.

The event will be held on Thursday, October 30 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.at the courtyard underneath the Engineering Center and is open to all ME students, faculty and staff. Come share your traditions and help us celebrate our community's diverse and inclusive culture.

The college is seeking nominations for the 2025 Caelan B. Lapointe Memorial Graduate Scholarship. Established by Dr. Caelan Lapointe, an expert in computational fluid dynamics who received his PhD in mechanical engineering from ̽»¨ÊÓƵ in 2021, the scholarship is geared towards graduate students who have shown exceptional achievement or potential in computational science and engineering.

One scholarship will be awarded to a current CEAS graduate student in the amount of $4,000. PhD and MS students at any stage of their education will be considered and additional preference will be given to students who are active participants in the Campos Student Center.

Faculty advisors should email a nomination packet to megrad@colorado.eduthat includes a nomination letter, a student CV and a personal statement from the student outlining their research and activity with the Campos Student Center by 5 p.m. on Monday, November 3 for full consideration.
