We sent this email at 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 22, 2025, to students whose COF lifetime hour limit was extended on their behalf.

Dear [first],

We noticed that you've exhausted your allotted 145 lifetime hours of COF funding toward your degree. On your behalf, we've granted you an institutional waiver that allows your COF funding to continue through Summer 2026.

You don't need to take any additional action at this time. This semester's COF hours will be applied to your bill within 48 to 72 hours.

To Apply for Additional COF Hours

If you'll need COF hours beyond Summer 2026, you may submit a Colorado Commission on Higher Education waiver request.

To Postpone This Extension

To postpone this COF lifetime limit extension until your next semester of enrollment, email the COF support team by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2025.

Please be aware that if you postpone the extension, you'll be responsible for paying the portion of this semester's tuition typically covered by COF funds.

We sent this email at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 16, 2025, to individuals who had financial activity on their account for 2025 and didn't have an SSN or TIN on file.

Dear [first],

You are required by federal law to provide a Social Security number (SSN) or Taxpayer Identification number (TIN) to ̽��Ƶ for tax purposes.*

If you fail to do so, the U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS) may impose a financial penalty of $50 (26 CFR 1.6050S-1(e)).

To resolve this issue, submit an SSN/TIN update form and a copy of your SSN or TIN card to the Office of the Registrar by mail or secure document upload by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2025.

̽��Ƶ protects the confidentiality of personally identifiable information and will not disclose an SSN or TIN for any purpose not permitted by law or policy (including FERPA) without your consent.

*Federal Requirement

Section 6109 of the Internal Revenue Code requires you to provide your correct SSN or TIN so ̽��Ƶ can file Form 1098-T (Tuition Statement) with the IRS and provide a statement to you.

Get Ready to Register

Your assigned enrollment period begins at [time] on [date]. Registration remains open through open enrollment, which begins Jan. 2, 2026.

To make registration as easy as possible, complete these tasks ahead of time:

Add your enrollment dates to your calendar.
Work to resolve any registration holds by following instructions in the hold's description.
If you haven't already, schedule an advising appointment. If you're looking to improve your cumulative GPA, discuss whether you'd benefit from retaking a course for grade replacement.
If eligible, reserve a seat in a course. Course reservation starts Monday, Oct. 27, and ends at 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 31.
Complete preregistration.
Search for classes and add them to your shopping cart for faster registration. Learn more about how to search for classes.

Register for Classes

Register as soon as your enrollment time begins for the best chance to get the classes, class times and/or instruction modes you want. For step-by-step instructions, see our registration pages.

If a class you want is full, add yourself to the waitlist and set up drop if enrolled to automatically drop a backup class if you're enrolled from the waitlist.

If you’re planning to check your degree progress (audit) to prepare for registration, please note that the degree audit system will be unavailable beginning at 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 14 and through Sunday, Nov. 16. Learn more about the upcoming degree audit system upgrades.

Coming Back After Some Time Away?

Even if you're not taking classes this fall, you're still considered an active student if you've been gone for fewer than two semesters plus summer (undergrads), or if you took an official leave of absence (grad students).

The degree audit system will undergo a system upgrade beginning 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 14 and through Sunday, Nov. 16.

If you’re planning to check your degree progress (audit) to prepare for registration, please note that the degree audit system will be unavailable during this time.

After the system upgrade, you'll notice a slightly new look and feel. And if you're a student with access to the "Plans" tab, please note that this planner functionality will be going away. If you previously completed a plan that you wish to keep, please download a copy for your records.

COF was created by the Colorado Legislature to pay a portion of total in-state tuition for eligible undergrads. There's no limit to the number of students who receive it, and you never have to pay it back.

To Correct Your Record

To resolve this error, follow our step-by-step instructions to update your record by 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 5, 2025.

Do not email anything containing your SSN. Doing so could put you at high risk for identity theft.

We'll securely send your information to College Assist. Once the error is resolved, follow our instructions to authorize COF by 11:59 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 12, 2025.
