Hello Staff and Research Faculty, 

We hope your summer is off to a great start following a successful Spring semester.

We want to acknowledge your hard work in moving the university through another academic year. We also want to highlight some of the ways that Staff Council is representing you in campus-wide initiatives and hiring committees.

The Tri-Chairs are greatly appreciative of campus leadership, who have ensured shared governance is included in these committees and processes, as well as the Staff Council members who have taken on additional responsibilities by serving on these hiring and strategic committees.

Here are a few of the committees we have been invited to serve on:

AI Strategic Steering Committee (representative: Jonathan Marenus), which “assists with the creation of resources and guidance to campus users as well as the formation of an AI community of practice.”

Signature Event Working Group – MLK Convocation (representative: Leah McDaniel Parvez), which advises on programmatic content and goal setting for the annual Convocation event.

Space Management Task Force (representative: Jessica Sandoval), which is tasked with “update[ing] our space guidelines, policies, and infrastructure to support effective use of space on the Boulder campus.”

Campus Shared Values Authoring Committee (representative: Crystal Cyr), which is “charged with developing a draft set of campus values and definitions that are inclusive, actionable and grounded in community input.”

VC Communications, Marketing, and Social Media search committee (representative: Christopher Mellott). The Tri-Chairs also participated in shared governance interviews for the finalist candidates.

VC Information Technology search committee (representative: Jessica Sandoval)

These invitations to serve demonstrate how we have strengthened our partnerships across campus, and we look forward to continuing and expanding our service next year.

Finally, as Staff Council’s year ends, we want to give a huge thank you to all of the Staff Council representatives and officers who are rolling off at the end of June. This year has been full of advocacy, partnerships, and employee recognition (check out the Committee accomplishments article). Thank you for your service and dedication to the employee experience here at ̽��Ƶ!

HR Blueprint Project

The HR Blueprint Project continues to advance ̽��Ƶ HR, ensuring our staff and faculty have the tools and resources to grow and thrive. Several learning journeys were launched to showcase training, resources, and information to best support HR practitioners and supervisors across campus. These learning journeys encompass the HR Service Center, Employee Relations, and an overview of Human Resources. If you are new to human resources, this learning journey is an excellent foundation and starting point. Access all the learning journeys and learn more.

Phase 1 implementation remains on track, and to keep stakeholders across campus informed, the Blueprint Brief has been created as a centralized resource. Updates, timelines, resources, and more are all available in the Blueprint Brief!

Payday Schedule Change

It was announced this May that the Time & Labor Project and Payday Schedule Change will shift from September 2026 to February 28, 2027. This means the transition from monthly to biweekly pay for nonexempt employees will also shift to February 28, 2027. This ensures payroll accuracy and a smoother transition and implementation of the new system. Please check the PDSC webpage for updates and email PDSC@colorado.edu with questions.

Central HR Onboarding Office Hours

Central HR Onboarding now offers monthly office hours to support anyone involved in onboarding across ̽��Ƶ—providing guidance on processes, programs, and best practices. These sessions are open to onboarding partners at all levels, including supervisors, and are held on the last Thursday of each month (9–10 a.m. MDT) via Zoom, https://cuboulder.zoom.us/j/98793701227

Additionally, New Employee Ask Me Anything (AMA) office hours are available for new hires on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month (2–3 p.m. MDT). Zoom link: https://cuboulder.zoom.us/j/96470715373

Employee Health & Well-Being

Faculty & Staff Assistance Program (FSAP) is expanding its benefits and services. FSAP is adding two new licensed providers and is expanding benefits starting June 1, 2026. Employees can access up to 10 free, confidential counseling sessions per year (up from 7), including individual, couples or family therapy (ages 14+), as well as workshops and resources to support campus well-being. Committed to advancing psychological well-being across campus, these new benefits support and resource our entire campus community.

LearnWell Workshops, hosted by WorkWell, kick off June 3rd and encompass a range of offerings for many different interests. LearnWell sessions blend education and practice across the eight dimensions of wellness, showcasing tools and strategies to support your overall well-being. Protecting your identity, generational communication, and campus landscape tours are in the mix! Register and learn more!

WorkOutWell at the Rec this summer - free classes start this week!

WorkWell and the CU Rec Center are excited to offer two free classes each week for faculty and staff - membership not required!

Rec Center access is free all day on Wednesdays this summer for faculty and staff with your BuffOne Card.

1956: First National Bike to Work Day
1970: First official Boulder bike path opens, led by CU Professor Al Bartlett (Roger Craraft and Al Bartlett in photo)
2003-present: Buff Bicycle Classic each September has raised over $4.3M for scholarships
2025: ̽��Ƶ named a Platinum Bicycle Friendly University

Increased daily permit lot availability for summer!

During the summer, daily permits will be available in more lots. Log into the online parking portal to view all of your lot options.

Summer garage maintenance

The C4C, Folsom, Euclid, and Regent parking garages will be closed at different times in June and July for annual power washing and maintenance. Signs will be posted in advance at garage entrances, and permit holders will receive email notifications with alternate parking arrangements.

Choose from 45 programs in high-demand fields including Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, Digital Marketing, Human Resources, Software Engineering and more.

Courses are self-paced, and learners can commit time according to their own schedules. Most courses take three to six months to complete with approximately five hours of study per week.
