ÌýWorkshop - "Reacting to the Past: Learning Through Immersion" with Dr. David Paradis

Location - Eaton Humanities Building

The advent of AI has challenged us to find new ways to immerse students in content. Reacting to the Past (RTTP) is a teaching methodology that encourages students to imagine themselves in various situations by assigning them roles of historical and quasi-historical figures who navigate periods of conflict. Whether involved in the debate over the Nicene Creed in 325 CE, in the partition of India in the late 1940s, or in the Copenhagen Climate Summit of 2009, students sharpen their debate, collaboration, and presentation skills while mastering content. This session explores challenges that faculty can expect when implementing the malleable and interdisciplinary RTTP pedagogy for the first time.
