Improper alignment over time can have serious negative consequences on the body. The goal of modern ergonomics, whether you perform manual labor ot sit at a desk, is to not force the body into extreme or unnatural positions.
By fitting the job to the individual, ergonomics can help prevent work-related musculoskeletal injuries. Examples of musculoskeletal injuries include carpal tunnel syndrome, tendonitis, and low back pain.
EH&S can help employees identify risk factors that can contribute to the development of work-related musculoskeletal injuries and determine solutions to eliminate or reduce these risk factors.
