Temporary Faculty
Each semester the Robotics Program may seek temporary faculty to teach a variety of courses to our students in our three theme areas including (i) dynamics and mechatronics, (ii) perception and control, and (iii) cognition and interaction. These teaching roles are filled on an as-needed basis each semester.
Temporary titles for those teaching on a course-by-course basis are inclusive of Lecturer (less than 50% time appointment) and Instructional Associate (equal to or over 50% time appointment or those that have an active 3-year clock).
If hired in as an Instructional Associate, this will start a 3-year clock and after that time they will be ineligible to be hired that way again. The clock will be based on the first start date as an Instructional Associate and will not pause with any break in appointment or reduction in FTE.
The titles of Lecturer, Instructional Associate, and Adjoint are given to individuals who teach on a course-by-course basis. Lecturers and Instructional Associates generally teach a particular course or courses for which they are qualified for and may have graduate degrees and/or advanced experience in their profession or field of expertise. Compensation starts at $14,000 per 3-credit course and depends on the teaching assignment depending on the course needs, applicant qualifications, and which semester the course is held.
Minimum qualifications include a PhD or extensive expertise in an applicable field.
Examples of courses that lecturers and instructional associates have taught in our program include:
- ROBO 5000: Introduction to Robotics
- ROBO 7000: Special Topics in Robotics
Please note, needs fluctuate substantially from semester-to-semester. If you have an interest in teaching with the program, we would encourage you to reach out to share your areas of specialization rather than being confined by the list above. Lecturer and Adjunct positions are not permanent employees and hired on a semester-by-semester basis.Â
This position is eligible for employee sick leave earned monthly on a prorated basis. Benefits eligibility and additional benefits information are available on the .
