Building a Successful Community
The research community fostered by RASEI is designed to bring together a broad range of perspectives. The challenges associated with powering modern society are bigger than one researcher, even one research field. RASEI brings together researchers from across the colleges and departments at the University of Colorado Boulder (̽»¨ÊÓƵ) and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). RASEI is built around the purpose of breaking down conventional subject-based silos, empowering our members to create dynamic multi-disciplinary teams and communities where chemists, biologists, physicists, engineers, social scientists, economists, political scientists and business experts can collaborate to solve problems holistically.
If we are to build a community capable of the innovation, vision, and ingenuity required to address the challenges associated with achieving an affordable, sustainable, and modern energy economy, we must foster an environment where we are all able to grow, thrive, and be successful by engaging with diverse ideas and perspectives through a growth mindset.
RASEI acts a hub for the generation and cultivation of team approaches to scientific challenges. We develop opportunities and resources for community members to effectively participate in the best practices of team science. Drawing from theory-driven principles to build effective and efficient research teams, this approach enables members to recognize and respect the differences between team members and welcome the integration of knowledge and new approaches in solving complex problems.
A central way in which RASEI benefits from being a joint institute is that it gathers input and feedback from both the ̽»¨ÊÓƵ and institutions on their to building interdisciplinary, collaborative, and effective teams.
RASEI is committed to building a successful research community that considers a broad range of perspectives and embraces far-reaching and multi-faceted discussion and investigation.
