Peer Wellness Coaches

Peer Wellness Coaching is a free, one‑on‑one support service for all ̽Ƶ students. Meet with a trained peer to talk through what’s going on in your life and build practical strategies that work for you.

Peer wellness coaches are CU students who are trained in active listening skills, goal‑setting and motivational support. Because they’re students too, they understand the pressures of balancing academics, relationships, work and everything else on your plate.

Coaches are not here to judge or tell you what to do. When you meet with a coach, you work one-on-one to set meaningful goals, build new habits and navigate college life with confidence. Coaches listen without judgment, offer encouragement, share useful resources and help you create a plan that works for you.

Reasons to Connect with a Peer Wellness Coach

A coach can be a great first step when you want support but are not sure where to start. Peer wellness coaches are familiar with most of the issues college students face every day. Buffs often connect with a peer wellness coach when they want to:

  • Find better work/life balance
  • Build community and connections on campus
  • Get more organized
  • Map out a study plan or learn new study skills
  • Improve communication or relationships
  • Explore academic or career goals
  • Build healthier habits around sleep, eating or movement
  • Improve digital well-being and screen-time habits
  • Practice self‑care in realistic, meaningful ways and reduce stress
  • Learn about resources for managing finances
  • Set personal goals and stay accountable

Peer Wellness Coaching meets you where you are—whether you’re hoping to make a big change or just want someone to talk things through with.

What Can I Expect from Coaching?

  • Meetings are about 20-40 minutes and take place on campus (e.g., WeatherTech Cafe, Laughing Goat, UMC) or over Zoom.
  • After a coaching meeting, we aim for you to walk away feeling supported, knowing your next steps and having a list of helpful resources (as needed).
  • You can choose to meet with a coach just once or multiple times. It’s up to you!
