Health Promotion provides a variety of presentations and programs to help support students’ overall well-being. Topics include self-care, connecting with others, stress and anxiety, recovery and more.ÌýÌý

This presentation is for students who want to enhance their helping skills. Participants willÌýlearn how to facilitate an inspiring and nonjudgmental conversation with peers. This training also covers Ìýhow to respond to distress and effectively share support resources when needed. This is an excellent opportunity for student leaders, peer mentors and others whose role includes supporting fellow students.ÌýÌý

Mental Health and Self-Care

This discussion on suicide prevention can help you recognize when someone might be struggling. You'll learn how to spot warning signs, start meaningful conversations and connect friends to helpful resources.Ìý

Consider what self-care means to you and how it can help you bounce back from challenges. Make a simple plan with easy-to-follow steps for taking care of yourself, including ways to remove obstacles so that you make self-care part of your routine.Ìý

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is designed to help individuals assist someone experiencing mental health or substance use concerns or crises. In this nationally recognized training, participants will learn about risk factors and warning signs, engage in experiential activities, discuss professional and self-help resources, and practice a five-step strategy to provide support. Mental Health First Aid for high education provides tailored information for college and university communities. Participants earn an MHFA certification at the end of the course.ÌýÌý

Learn the difference between stress and anxiety in easy-to-understand terms and discover ways to manage both. You'll also learn about helpful campus resources that can support your well-being.Ìý

This three-hour, in-person training is designed for faculty and staff who want to better support people experiencing distress. Participants will learn how to identify signs of distress, respond appropriately and connect others with helpful resources. The training includes group discussions and opportunities to practice these skills. This is a good option for teams that would like more than a one-hour training but do not have capacity for the full-day Mental Health First Aid course.ÌýÌýÌý
